Astrohall 7/19 -  7/22/2001

Well Astrohall for 2001 is now over and what a 4 days it was...  Yes this is the first year Astrohall was 4 days....  Well 4 days of agility, 3 days of obedience, 3 days of conformation.  All 3 dogs were kept quite buzy!!!!

So the weekend started out on Thursday with Agility only.... The judges for Thursday were Sarah Scott and Debbie Moore....  They provided us with some fun courses....  Althought cajun had a rough day and didn't get any Q's Partee fought the carpet a bit but was successful in both runs earning 1st in standard and 1st in jumpers for his 38th Double Q....  But the day didn't end there.  I then took advantage of the nice bathing facilities that were set up and gave the Lanee girl a bath so she could look like a show dog rather than the herding/agility/obedience dog she looked like!!!!  It was so nice to give a bath without have to bend over the tub or be on my knees....  so bath time and Barb gave her a quick dry and we were finally on our way home!!!!

So Friday is when all heck broke loose!!!!  We got there early as Border Collies showed early in the conformation ring...  Althought I didn't need to be there till around 9:00 for obedience and agility.  Well we got there and I made it over to watch the baby girl.  She looked so cute, but not cute enough she won reserve...  The major had broken so I guess it wasn't that big of a deal.  They had a best puppy competition though and she not only won BOB Puppy but she went on to win 4th in the Puppy Herding Group!!!!  So back to the performance building we go.  I did my utility run and Partee did Qualify.  And then I did what I said I was NOT going to do and that was I let myself get stressed between obedience and agility and raced in to try to get my run in.  And I unfortuantely messed up my standard run by missing the dog walk contact zone...  BAD MOMMA.....  I get back to obedience and I would have had plent of time before open.  We did do open and qualified for our 3rd UDX leg.....  Off to jumpers and BOTH Cajun and Partee Qualified.  Cajun in 3rd and Partee in 1st....  It was about 6:30 by the time we got out of there.  I followed Shirley back to her motel and took her to dinner and we met up with Julie and the rest of the gang for italian....  I got home about 11:30 and was whiped and still had 2 days to go!!!

Saturday came a little to quick and found Lanee again earning Reserve.. . ARGGG Reserve stinks.....  so back  again to the rat race!!!  This time I did NOT let myself get rushed in either ring....  We busted the 2nd article but in open we had a very nice run for a 197.5 and 3rd place.  There were enough dogs that this earned us 2 more OTCH points...  Neither dog qualified in standard or jumpers but in the international PARTEE WAS ON.  He had a great aframe and it had 2 sets of weavepoles and he was hot.  turned in a 31.36 very early in the class and everyone had to chase him...  Well Gerry and Larry caught us but not by much 30.8....So now the race was on...  This was the first time EVER there was money involved and we won money for our 2nd place finish!!!

So Sunday came to quick and to slow at the same time.  we got to sleep in a bit this day as border collies showed later in the day and poor cute lanee got dumped....  in agility Cajun missed a double Q by the weave entry in standard but he did qualify in jumpers but no placement....  Partee was Perfect Partee again not only earning a Double Q (YES # 39) but going clean in the international jumpers class.   he again put in a clean fast time early on and wasn't caught again till Larry so the cousins did it 2 days in a row 1st and 2nd.  The total time difference between the 2 was a small 1.1 seconds!!!!  In obedience Partee was good again qualifying in both open and utility for UDX #4..  Also in utility partee was on and was in a runoff for 1st with Debbie Quigly with a 195.5.  Unfortunately we lost the runoff and won 2nd but that still got us 4 OTCH points.  This brings our OTCH point total to 23....

With the weekend over I decided to visit so went to dinner with Lavaonda Herring and Pam Oday.  It was fun but we all ate to much as I think we got hungry as the stress was over!!!!

So another astrohall has come and gone.  I always get a little depressed after the big shows you start building up to them 2 months in advance and then with the snap of your fingers they are OVER and you have to wait another 12 months to do it all again!!!!
